A selection of our former staff enjoying the whisky tasting and talk given by Rory Souter from the Whisky Society. We even had whisky cake, courtesy of Auria, to add to the enjoyment!
Fittingly, it was an educational as well as enjoyable event, held in the Upper Apex cafe at Merchiston. Star of the show, undoubtedly, was Richard Honour, former head of Publishing and Printing. His appearances at events have been sparser of late, due to the difficulty of negotiating his wheelchair. But the venue was completely accessible, and he was able to meet friends and colleagues again.
Rory coped admirably with questions from the audience, blending knowledge with wit and humour. There were requests for a follow up, so please, if you’d like to pitch in with ideas or information, just contact one of us.
Dr William Charles Geddes has passed away. He was a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Applied Chemical and Physical Sciences and had a particular interest in Polymers.
The Funeral Service will be held at Kirkcaldy Crematorium on Friday, February 19, at 11 am.
He and his wife Sheena were good supporters of the Former Staff Association and he will be sorely missed.
The Christmas Lunch was held on Wednesday 16 December 2015 in the Rivers Suite, Craiglockhart Campus. Thirty two members and partners attended the event and it was a good opportunity to catch up with old friends and colleagues over an enjoyable meal.
Many thanks to David and his staff from Catering Services and to Sandy Brown for organising the lunch.
Have just been advised that Alistair McLeod who was a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Design has passed away. His funeral service will be held at Warriston Crematorium on Wednesday 20 January 2016 at 2.30pm.
